Key and mail oversight

Estate Property Key & Mail Oversight

Keys and mail can become surprisingly complicated after a death. We use a written custody record and act only under the appointed representative’s instructions.

01

Key control

Keys can be coded, logged, stored securely, signed in and out for approved appointments, and transferred with a documented handoff.

  • Key count and identifying code
  • Date, time, and reason for access
  • Person or approved vendor receiving access
  • Return or permanent transfer record
  • Lost-key and lock-change escalation procedure
02

Mail handling

When authorized, we can collect sealed mail located at the property and send it to the appointed representative. We do not independently open mail, change the deceased person’s address, or claim authority from a death certificate alone.

03

Sensitive documents

Original wills, financial documents, identity records, and other sensitive materials require a separate documented handoff. We recommend attorney instructions when authority or ownership is unclear.
